Abstract
UFO abductions have been a part of the UFO phenomenon since the early years of public awareness of sightings. Although academics and scientists began to study UFO abduction, over the years cultural events and non–evidencebased theories provided barriers to academic and scientific inquiry into it. In spite of the lack of academic interest, the phenomenon continues unabated and unaffected by societal events.
